May 31, 2010 - The 2010 CISC Synchronized Swimming Trials will be held at the  National Stadium Pool starting at 12:30 PM on Saturday June 5, 2010. The results of the trials will be used by the ASAJ Selection Committee to select Jamaica’s Synchro Team for the 2010 Caribbean Island Swimming Championships being held in Havana, Cuba June 26 – July 1. Entries for the trials will close on Wednesday June 2nd. Click here for more meet information.

May 31, 2010 - National Swim Squads training will resume tomorrow (June 1) morning at the Stadium Pool.

May 31, 2010 - The National Stadium complex is again open to the public. IPL Management's plans to begin charging patrons to park have been delayed and will become effective next Monday, June 7.

May 26, 2010 - The Management of Independence Park Limited has advised that, effective immediately and until advised otherwise, the National Stadium Complex is closed to the public.

May 25, 2010 - With the current military operations within the Kingston metropolitan area, the decision has been taken to postpone the Neville Alexander Memorial meet to next weekend, June 4-6, 2010.  We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.

May 25, 2010 - Effective next Monday, May 31st, all patrons to the stadium complex will be required to pay to park on the compound, either on Statue Road or in the main car park using Gate E4. Discounted parking permits are available in the ASAJ office at the pool....more

May 22, 2010 - Congratulations to Kendese Nangle (Peddie School in New Jersey) on her selection to the Mid Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) All Academic Honourees list for 2009-10. The selection is based on outstanding performances in the classroom and varsity sports....more

May 22, 2010 - The Nestle Prep/Primary Schools meet will be held on June 11-12 at the National Stadium. The summons is now available from the 2010 calendar.

May 22, 2010 - Clubs are being reminded that they need to name volunteers for the Neville Alexander Memorial meet immediately. The requirement from each club per session is based on the number of entries submitted as follows:

1 Unattached swimmer - 1 Volunteer (per 3 sessions)
1-3 Club swimmers - 1 Volunteer
4-6 Club swimmers - 2 Volunteers
7-10 Club swimmers - 3 Volunteers
11-20 Club swimmers - 5 Volunteers
over 20 Club swimmers - 8 Volunteers

May 14, 2010 - Twelve swimmers from the Tornadoes Swim Club will participate in the Comet Swim Club FGC Invitational Swim Meet this weekend in Pembroke Pines, Florida....more

May 11, 2010 - Hillel Prep were the overall champion team at the YMCA/Burger King Swim Meet on Friday. They scored 395 points, followed by Stella Maris (301) and Sts Peter and Paul (250.5). The top girls' section was won by Stella Maris (190 points) from Mona and Sts Peter and Paul. Hillel (276) took the boys' section, followed by Sts Peter and Paul and Stella Maris. The top primary school was Excelsior Primary with 50.0 points....results

May 10, 2010 - The training groups for the National Swimming Squad (local swimmers) based on the test sets are now prepared. The training schedule to the end of June indicate that the first sessions will be held this Wednesday, May 12 at the Stadium pool.

APRIL

April 30, 2010 - Please note that the National Squad training session scheduled for Saturday will now start at 9:00am to facilitate a track meet at the Stadium.

April 26, 2010 - National Squad training sessions are scheduled for Wednesday afternoon (4/28 4:30 - 6:00) and Saturday afternoon (5/1 3:00 - 4:30) at the National Stadium pool. All swimmers should attend one session as test sets will be done to establish training groups for the next cycle of training.

April 19, 2010 - The 50M pool at the national stadium is OPEN!! A revised fee structure, ranging from $100 to $200 per entry is published by Pool Management. Please note that the diving well is not available at this time, and all users should avoid that area. Clubs are reminded to submit lane requirements by Friday (4/23) so that the usage can be scheduled.

April 14, 2010 - The national stadium pool will re-open to the public on Monday April 19th. Entry fee for use of the pool facility is $100 per person per entry for persons swimming with coaches, and $150 per person per entry for recreational swimming.

April 6, 2010 - As we enter the final session of the last day of the XXV CARIFTA Swimming Championship, Jamaica will depend on the performance of the 17 swimmers who have made the finals. Leading the charge are Ivana Chang, Kevaughn Campbell, Octivia Gray and Timothy Wynter who earlier swam NAGR in 200M Back - 2:19.96....results

April 5, 2010 - Jamaica retained their fifth position at the end of day 3 of the XXV CARIFTA Swimming Championship. Tonight they earned 1 gold (Kevaughn Campbell 11-12 boys 50M breast) and two bronze medals, and established new NAGR in the 13-14 girls 50M breast (Octivia Gray 35.91) and in the 15-17 girls 800M freestyle relay...results

April 5, 2010 - In the most exciting waterpolo match so far in the XXV CARIFTA Swimming Championship, Trinidad held on to defeat Jamaica's male team 8-6. Akua Walter, Jonathan Hernould (2), Corey Richards, Zawdie Coke and David Millwood were the goal scorers....game

April 5, 2010 - Trinidad defeated Jamaica in the third of the best of five girls waterpolo competition at the XXV CARIFTA Swimming Championship. Gabrielle Mesquita, Leigh-Anne Lewars (2) and Christina Burke were the goal scorers in the 4-12 score line....game

April 5, 2010 - Jamaica will have twenty swimmers in the finals tonight at the XXV CARIFTA Swimming Championship. Medal contenders include Leanne McMaster, Kevaughn Campbell and Antoine Young....results

April 4, 2010 - Jamaica went down to Trinidad in both waterpolo matches played tonight in the XXV CARIFTA Swimming Championship . The girls lost 2-16 while the boys rallied better, final score was 8-12.

April 4, 2010 - Jamaica added 1 gold medal (Timothy Wynter - 26.69 in 50M fly, new NAGR), 3 silver and 2 bronze medals in the finals on day 2 of the XXV CARIFTA Swimming Championship, ending the day on 262 points....results

April 4, 2010 - Trinidad got the better of Jamaica's male team in their first waterpolo game today at the XXV CARIFTA Swimming Championship. Jonathon Hernould, Nicolas Jones, Darron-ray Donaldson and Zawdie Coke each scored a goal in the 4-21 defeat....result

April 4, 2010 - Jamaica's female team was beaten 4-18 by Trinidad in the first waterpolo game today at the XXV CARIFTA Swimming Championship. Goal scorers were Christina Burke (2), Gabrielle Mesquita and Courtney Roberts....result

March 21, 2010 - Kendese Nangle further lowered her time in the 100M Backstroke at the Speedos Champion Series Southern Zone Championship. She stopped the clock at 1:06.52 for 9th place in the "A" Finals, just missing the national 15-17 age group record by 0.01sec.

March 21, 2010 - Tornadoes Swim Club won the ASAJ Masters/Pre-Masters Meet which was held at Bournemouth Bath yesterday. They scored 842 points to lead Speedos (287), Marlins (174) and Swimaz Aquatics (108). The champion female was Kadian Ingleton, while Alan Marsh was the male champion ....results

March 20, 2010 - Kendese Nangle today swam a personal best time of 1:06.76 in the 100M backstroke to better the B qualifying cut for the Youth Olympics. The time also qualifies her for the "A" finals in the Speedos Champion Series Southern Zone Championship scheduled for later tonight....more

March 20, 2010 - Three members of Jamaica's CARIFTA team, Victoria Ho, Kendese Nangle and Alexia Royal-Eatmon, are participating in the Speedos Champion Series Southern Zone Championship in Fort Lauderdale. This meet serves as a warm up meet for the girls...Friday....Saturday

March 20, 2010 - The ASAJ has named twenty four players to represent Jamaica in Waterpolo at XXV CARIFTA Swimming Championships. Jamaica will take part in the 19 & Under male and female competitions....team

March 13, 2010 - Stella Maris was again the overall champion in the prep/primary schools section of the Mayberry Investments Schools Swim Meet. They finished with 475.5 points, just ahead of Hillel with 456 and St Peter & Paul at 270. The top girls team was Stella Maris (283), top boys team Hillel (294) and top primary school was Excelsior (44)....results

March 13, 2010 - Campion College is the new girls high school champions in the Mayberry Investments Schools Swim Meet, having earned 467.5 point. They are followed by St Andrew with 403.5 and Holy Childhood on 134. Wolmers' Boys School successfully defended the championship trophy for high school boys, gaining 559 points, from Campion College on 392 and Kingston College with 266. University of Technology won the university section....results

March 11, 2010 - The ASAJ hosted a Synchronized Swimming Development Meet on Saturday, March 6 at Bournemouth Bath. It also served for the selection of Jamaica's team to CARIFTA XXV. Both local synchronized swimming teams participated....results

March 9, 2010 - The ASAJ has named the competitive swimming team for CARIFTA XXV. The team includes eleven overseas based athletes. All local members should attend the first training session, scheduled for Thursday, March 11th at 5:00am at the YMCA pool....team

March 3, 2010 - The Masters/Pre-masters Meet scheduled for March 20 will take place at Bournemouth Bath. All swimmers 18 years and older are encouraged to participate. Registration with ASAJ is recommended but not necessary.

March 3, 2010 - The technical (scratch) meeting for the Mayberry Investment Schools Meet is postponed to Monday, March 8th. It will be held at the ASAJ Offices, starting at 5:30pm.

March 1, 2010 - Tornadoes Swim Club won both the Age Group and Masters sections of the Walter Rodgers Age Group Championships. In the age group category, Tornadoes scored 1621 points, followed by y-Speedos with 1133 and Marlins on 1101. Outstanding individual performances came from Timothy Wynter and Kevaughn Campbell who both achieved AAAA time standard....more

February 27, 2010 - Tornadoes (on 1114 points) enjoy a comfortable lead in the Walter Rodgers Age Group Championships. Marlins (790) is second and y-Speedos (768) third at the end of the third day....results

February 26, 2010 - It is now confirmed that the  Mayberry Investments Schools Swim Meet will be held at Bournemouth Bath on March 12 & 13.

February 26, 2010 - Tornadoes continue to lead after two days of the Walter Rodgers Age Group Championships. They are currently on 404 points, followed by Marlins on 262 and y-Speedos with 251.

February 25, 2010 - At the end of day 1 of the Walter Rodgers Age Group Championships, Tornadoes is in the lead with 182 points, followed by y-Speedos on 92 and Marlins with 82..

February 24, 2010 - Coaches met this evening to review the length of the sessions for the Walter Rodgers Age Group Championships. Some changes were necessary to the program to limit each session to a maximum 4 1/2 hours. Please note that 8 & under and some 9-10 swimmers have been removed from Friday evening....more....psych

February 19, 2010 - The next Masters/Pre-Masters Meet is scheduled for March 20. We plan to host one such meet each term as we prepare/condition swimmers for international competitions. Master swimmers do not have to be registered with ASAJ to participate, but unregistered swimmers will not earn points.

February 13, 2010 - After a ding-dong battle all day, Tornadoes Swim Club retained the lead at the end of day 2 of the y-Speedos Karl Dalhouse Swim Meet. Tornadoes has 589 points, followed by y-Speedos on 574 and Marlins with 499....results

February 12, 2010 - Tornadoes Swim Club took the early lead in the y-Speedos Karl Dalhouse Swim Meet, scoring 107 points. Marlins (94) is second and hosts y-Speedos (85) third ....results

February 11, 2010 - Five members of  the National Senior Squad (Brian Forte, Steven Moodie, Kendese Nangle, Alexia Royal-Eatmon, Dominic Walter) will be competing in the Missouri Grand Prix on February 12-14, as they continue their bids to qualify for the Youth Olympics in August....more

January 15, 2010 - The summons for the Karl Dalhouse Memorial Swim Meet has been submitted by y-Speedos Swim Club. The meet will take place on February 12-14, 2010, at the UWI pool. Registration closes on January 22 and entries must be submitted by January 29.

January 15, 2010 - Congratulations to Natasha Moodie and Brad Hamilton on being named swimming category winners at the RJR Foundation Sports Award Ceremony held on Thursday, January 14.

January 14, 2010 - Three members of the national squad (Steven Moodie, Alexia Royal-Eatmon, Dominic Walter) left the island yesterday for a training camp in Florida, in an attempt to qualify for the 2010 Youth Olympics. They will be joined later in the week by other members....more

January 1, 2010 - The Members of the ASAJ Council wishes for everyone in the Jamaican Aquatics Community a happy and prosperous 2010. The year will no doubt be challenging, but we are confident that with everyone playing a role, we can together, make the ASAJ a better organization.

It is our hope that 2010 will be seen as a turning point for the Aquatic Sports. If this is to happen we must work:

1. to change the structure of the ASAJ so as to encourage increased participation, particularly in parishes outside Kingston;

2. to make each Technical Committee a robust and effective development tool;

3. to secure additional sources of funding for local competitions and National Teams;

4. to continue the rapid expansion of SwimJamaica;

5. with the Government and other organizations to secure funding for new aquatic facilities;

6. to ensure that the new G.C. Foster Aquatics Programme flourishes;

7. to ensure that CARIFTA is a success, in all respects.

We look forward to working with you to achieve these and other goals and pray that 2010 be a good one for you and your family.
